NYs resolution update
May. 6th, 2012 | 12:20 pm
"Living more with less" was my New Year's Resolution since last year and I swore I would challenge myself with those decluttering mini-missions. I was able to give up almost half my clothes, furniture and other nonsensical shit that I kept around my room and because of this, I was able to build a fundamental wardrobe that I'm actually proud of. As I was moving at that time, I found a lot of these missions attainable. It's convenient to give away than punish myself by hoarding up. But when it boils down to these:
How about N O O O ??? Same applies to my (new collection of) books.
Ok..I already my initial donation of old school/leisure books to my school library. It's painful.
My DVDs are with a friend. It was a precious collection, I can't trust any of it to a stranger. I suppose I'm kind of cheating as I have the freedom to take it back from her any time I want. Idk...
MINI-CHALLENGE: DVDS
Put a couple of DVDs in your bag by the door.
MINI-CHALLENGE: BOOKS
Put a book or two in the box/bag by the door.

The World of 100
May. 6th, 2012 | 11:30 am
Just something to ponder on...
"If the world were a village of 100 people, how would the composition be? This set of 20 posters is built on statistics about the spread of population around the world under various classifications. The numbers are turned into graphics to give another sense a touch – Look, this is the world we are living in."

..and more.
When brilliant social marketing meets brilliant design...
Buy it.

simplicity vs. classicism
Jan. 23rd, 2012 | 09:33 am
"A classic is an excuse because one is too lazy to contrast the spirit of the time." - Jil Sander
Everything Jil Sander says is poetry to me and gets me thinking about my way of viewing things. This quote certainly made me have second thoughts about using the term "classic".

Just re-posting this from my tumblr since I thought it was an interesting brain exercise:
1. What was the last movie you watched on theaters?
Sherlock Holmes (2011) - currently at the province staying with my parents and damn the theaters here are dated I have no words
2. What was the first movie you ever remember watching on theaters?
My brother dragged me to see The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
3. Top 5 movies
There are way too many, gosh
4. Top 5 directors

It involves my friends, blue cheese popcorn, and chick flicks
7. A guilty pleasure
Hitchcock films
8. An overrated movie
Forrest Dumb Gump (1994)
9. An underrated movie
I’m honestly doubtful about this but I’ll mention Wong Kar-Wai’s Days of Being Wild (1990) anyway because I never hear any love for it when it was equally engaging and stylish as In the Mood for Love (2000)
10. A movie that not many have heard that you’ve seen
Southeast Asian films I guess, I wouldn’t know…
11. A movie you watched mainly for an actor
